Like many businesses, you’ve probably began to hear about the great advantages of installing EV charging points at your company premises.
Let us guess, you love the sound of it, but you’re worried about the installation costs?
Worry not.
Electric vehicles are predicted to play a key role in the UK government’s plan to reach ambitious emissions targets by the 2050 deadline, and this has been reflected in the financial assistance now available to businesses like you.
In the following article, we’ll explain exactly what grants are available, if you’re eligible and how to go about applying.
What grants are available?
The Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) offer a grant to support the wider use of electric and hybrid vehicles. This is known as the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS).
What is the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)?
The WCS is a voucher-based scheme that provides support towards the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charge-points, for eligible businesses, charities and public sector organisations.
The contribution is limited to 75% of the purchase and installation costs, up to a maximum of £500 for each socket, up to a maximum of 20 across all sites for each applicant.
Please note, the voucher must be used within four months of being issued, so don’t hang about.
How does it work?
Once the charge-points have been installed, your installer will claim the grant from OLEV on your behalf.
OLEV will calculate 75% of the declared purchase and installation costs and confirm the exact value of the grant awarded, which will be capped at a maximum of £500 per socket.
How do I qualify for the scheme?
In order to claim for the grant, it’s mandatory that you have off-street parking at your facility and have the charging station installed by an OLEV-approved workplace charging station installer.
How to claim for the Grant?
To claim for the grant couldn’t be easier, all you need to do is simply answer a few qualifying questions and Great Annual Savings will do the rest. Our team will submit the grant application on your behalf following installation.
