Tyneside Foodservice Case Study

First established in the North East in 1979, Tyneside Foodservice specialises in offering a large range of frozen food, butchery, desserts, drinks and more.

Members of the Fairway Foodservice and Today’s Foodservice Group’, the family-owned firm now operate 13 sites across the North of England.

OVERVIEW

As the region’s largest Independent distributor, Tyneside Foodservice faced the same challenge as every other rapidly-growing business – controlling their operating costs.

A main area of concern for the firm was their ever-growing energy bills. Identifying the need to evaluate their current strategy, the business began exploring new methods of reduction.

After concluding a thorough analysis of the market, Tyneside Foodservice approached cost-reduction experts Great Annual Savings (GAS) to analyse their current spend and help develop a plan that would see their annual energy expenditure reduced dramatically.

SOLUTION

Following a comprehensive investigation and analysis of the firm’s existing energy contracts, GAS’ team of industry-leading procurement specialists utilised their superior buying power to renegotiate their current terms and establish significant cost savings over the course of their new contract.

To further enhance their savings, GAS aided in the installation of energy-efficient lighting at the company’s Blaydon headquarters, as well as implementing a new 50 kilowatt solar photovoltaic system which captures energy from the sun and converts it into cheaper, more environmentally friendly green electricity.

As part of the continuous support service they offer to their clients, GAS’s Energy Management Service Team are also assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of Tyneside Foodservice current energy usage to establish stringent long-term control over expenditure.

BENEFITS

  • Experience significant cost savings of 15% over the course of their contract.
  • Establish long-term control over their future running costs.
  • Maximise the accuracy of their financial forecasts with a tighter control over spending.
  • Remove the burden of managing their business utilities in-house.
  • Reduce their carbon footprint.
  • Invest more capital into their business operations.

TESTIMONIAL

“We’ve worked with Great Annual Savings Group for a number of years now using their energy procurement, energy management and insurance services and we’re absolutely delighted with the results. We’ve reduced the amount we pay for our power and improved our carbon footprint through the installation of efficient lighting and solar PV systems.

“Overall, we’ve saved around £20,000 on our energy bills – a sum which has enabled us to increase our bottom line and improve our service offering to those most important to us; our customers.”
