It’s been a busy few months for Great Annual Savings (GAS), with record-breaking numbers of new colleagues joining the Group. As we always strive to put our people first, we’ve been touching base with those who recently joined Team GAS to see how they’re settling in.
In the following piece, we sit down with Travel Coordinator, Damian Kellegher, as he discusses how his first week with GAS has gone and the long-term plans he has for GAS Travel, our latest staff benefit and offering.
Why did you choose to join the GAS family?
I was contacted by the senior management team at GAS in relation to the role, so I came to Seaham to discuss the opportunity in full. My working relationship with GAS and Spennymoor Town Football Club has been fantastic for many years, so this was a superb opportunity for me to join a business model and team I have always admired.
How have you found your first week at GAS?
My first days induction was very informative, and gave me a full insight into each sector of the business.
I was then able to work with new colleagues in the Marketing department for the rest of the week, and start to gain understandings from one to one meetings with each team member in relation to their role, and how we can all support each other within GAS.
What do you hope to achieve in your role as travel coordinator?
My key objective is to provide the best deals possible for every team member, for any type of holiday, either in the UK, Overseas, Cruise, Ski, Car Hire, Attractions etc.
We will only work with the right suppliers, relevant to the destination.
I am in a position to beat customer websites direct, such as Jet2 Holidays, TUI, Emirates Holidays, but to name a few.
Every supplier we work with, must be ABTA/ATOL bonded, and follow compliance procedures from the day you book, until the day you come home.
What are your longer term career ambitions within the GAS family?
My key objective is to introduce a very successful Travel Division within GAS, and support motivation for every team members success in delivering results, and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Long term I am aiming for an exclusive GAS Travel Division within the Group, and be GM for the team involved.
