One of the first targeted community projects to be delivered through the GF Community Foundation is a £20,000 grant and sponsorship of Hetton Lyons Cricket Club, a long-standing grassroots sports club with over 225 children, players and coaches.
Gary Adey, Cricket Secretary at Hetton Lyons Cricket Club said: “We’re very grateful for the support we’ve received from Brad and Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) for almost a decade.
“The generous grant we’ve received from the Foundation has allowed us to rebrand the ground and offer all of our juniors a full set of club clothing and means we can continue to offer affordable grassroots sport provision to our local communities for the foreseeable future.”
Spearheaded by CEO and Chairman of GAS Brad Groves, the GF Community Foundation has been created to address key social issues in four areas across County Durham and Sunderland.
The Foundation will invest in local people to revive communities by restoring hope, encouraging people to make positive changes and reignite community spirit.
