Gas Staff Complete Challenge for Charity

Eight intrepid Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) employees have raised a total of £825.50 for charity after completing the Allendale Challenge.

The group completed the gruelling 26 mile hike over boggy terrain on 9 April in aid of Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade, raising the impressive sum in the process.

Organiser Kerry Thorpe, Sales Administration Manager, was joined by Dan Lake, Business Administration Manager, Liam Groves, Customer Experience Manager, Joshua Green, IT Network Support, Craig Shields, Head of Customer Experience, Gary Mapstone, Energy Manager, Scott Parvia, Business Solutions Manager, and Chris Bullock, Team Manager.
Kerry is an avid fundraiser for the charity and takes part in the challenge annually.

She said: “I’m pleased we got so much support from our own staff. The total raised is excellent, we just need to collect it in now.

“Hopefully even more take part next year.”

Several of the hikers are still feeling the effects more than a week later, but have confirmed that they are already considering next year’s challenge, where they hope to be joined by more staff and beat this year’s total raised.

The hikers’ achievements mirror GAS’ approach to charity and our company values. The Group would like to congratulate those who took part.
