Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) has recently surpassed £100,000 in contributions to charity following the launch of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy two years ago.
As a North East business, GAS has a clear dedication to contributing to the region with staff regularly getting involved with charitable initiatives in the community.
All funds raised by GAS go to the Group’s three chosen charities; Chester le Street children’s charity Heel and Toe; Sunderland animal rescue and rehoming charity Animal Krackers; and the County Durham Foodbank.
Thanks to the Group’s efforts, it has achieved multiple awards for the charity work carried out by staff. In November 2019, GAS became the first recipient of the Winskill Award from the County Durham Foodbank and received the Payroll Giving Quality Mark highest level Diamond Award earlier last year.
Judith Bennison, Group HR Director, said: “We’ve achieved a great total over the past two years which we’re incredibly proud of.
“We’re often overwhelmed at the lengths our staff will go to in the interest of raising money for our chosen charities. Doing anything from skydives to Tough Mudder, their dedication is to be admired. We also have a give as you earn programme which 100% of the workforce contributes to.”
The Group has also invested in appointing a dedicated charity resource in house. CSR Assistant, Kathryn Brocklesby joined GAS in September as GAS looked to expand its impact in the community.
