GAS Presents Sunderland Foodbank with £5000

GAS presents £5,000 to local foodbank

Great Annual Savings Group has presented Sunderland and County Durham Foodbank with £5,000 following a social media incentive.

With the announcement of the Group as Sunderland AFCs Principle Partner earlier this year, the firm has seen its online presence exponentially rise.

Using this increased exposure, GAS set out to engage Sunderland AFC fans on social media. For every Twitter follower gained, the Group vowed to donate £1 to the Foodbank with the target set at £5,000.

Despite falling slightly short of the target, the Group has presented the cheque to the charity regardless, recognising the need for supplies at this critical time in the community.

CEO, Brad Groves said: “It’s a pleasure to be able to present this to the charity. After working with the Foodbank for several years, we know that now more than ever donations are extremely important for the community.

“It’s been a privilege to be able to use our increased platform to help and we will be working with Sunderland AFC to leverage their incredible social power.

“I would also like to again thank Red and White Army, who have repeatedly pushed this important agenda in the city.”

The cost-saving consultancy has a long-standing relationship with the Foodbank having supported the cause for the past three years.

Glenn Jones, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Sunderland and County Durham Foodbank, said: “Over recent years, GAS has been an invaluable partner with their donations and staff volunteering significantly helping those in need.

“The ongoing pandemic has caused many people in the area to encounter hardship, placing increasing strain not only on us but the voluntary sector as a whole, so this donation has come at a crucial time.”

The cheque presentation took place near the site of the new GAS HQ, which is set to be a state-of-the-art facility once complete.

With £3m investment, CEO Brad Groves has set out to provide a stand-out workplace in the region for current and prospective GAS Colleagues.

With this increased exposure the firm has vowed to continue to use its new-found platform to provide a voice and support for the local community.
