GAS named in the prestigious North East Fast 50

Great Annual Savings Group (GAS), one of the UK’s leading cost reduction specialists, has been named as one of the 50 fastest growing companies across the North East.

The prestigious Ward Hadaway North East Fastest 50 Awards, which the UK top 100 law firm established 22 years ago, celebrate growth, innovation, and the commercial achievements of North East businesses.

Based on financial data filed with Companies House which relates to the period before the pandemic hit, the list ranks the fifty best performing companies who have consistently increased turnover whilst remaining profitable.  GAS was ranked 8th in a year which saw its customer portfolio pass the 10,000 mark nationwide.

The Fastest 50 list is being published as usual after a decision by the organisers to continue to celebrate these successes despite the impact of the pandemic, in an attempt to continue to motivate and inspire those operating in the North East business community.

Damien Charlton, a commercial partner at Ward Hadaway, said, “Congratulations to GAS and every company in the Ward Hadaway North East Fastest 50 for 2020 for their tremendous achievement in making this year’s list.

“This year’s Fastest 50 list, as always, boasts many management teams with an unwavering passion to succeed who have created high growth, profitable businesses. It’s this spirit, and the business success that it creates, that we are delighted to celebrate, particularly this year during such a challenging time for businesses.”

The announcement marks a culmination of good news for GAS, coming hot on the heels of the firm being recognised as the UK’s joint 2nd best employers for Work-Life balance by Glassdoor.

Despite the challenges facing most UK businesses this year, GAS’ ambitious expansion plans have shown no sign of halting.  Welcoming a record number of new starters between August and October, the feelgood factor was also heightened following the recent revealing of a new partnership with East College Durham, a move which will see the creation of 100 new apprenticeships.

With 2020 coming to a close, the cost reduction specialists are already looking forward to an exciting 2021, with the recent announcement of a new multi-million pound HQ in Seaham.
