GAS Decorated with Continuing Excellence Wellbeing Award

Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) is celebrating the latest milestone in its long-term commitment to staff wellbeing following their Continuing Excellence accreditation via the Better Health at Work Award (BHAWA) scheme.

The certification recognises the importance of organisations sustaining the progress they have made during their participation in the award and encourages them to use their experience to support others.

The accreditation is the latest step in the Group’s rich history of recognition for their colleague wellbeing practices, having previously been awarded a Gold Standard accreditation.

During the accreditation criteria process, the group were able to demonstrate how they have excelled in the following areas:

  • Raising health awareness with colleagues, through five high quality, interactive campaigns.
  • Going above and beyond to provide director-level support and mentoring to a large portfolio of organisations.
  • Progress and evidence activity needed to deliver a three-year Health & Wellbeing strategy.

Judith Bennison, Group HR Director, said: “In what has been a difficult 12 months for everyone, the health and wellbeing of our colleagues, both physically and emotionally, has been our number one priority.”

“It is great news to achieve this award, the HR and Health & Wellbeing teams worked on this together to promote internally and get everyone at GAS involved with these initiatives, they also mentored a number of businesses externally.

“As a company we look after our staff and believe in looking after their health and wellbeing.   We also have a great healthcare plan for GAS colleagues and their families through HSF, which again reinforces that we are a caring employer.”

Great news has become somewhat of a normality for the cost saving expert in recent months. Alongside their move to a new multi-million pound 80,000 sq. ft HQ in January, the Group has also celebrated the roll out of its onsite rapid COVID-19 testing programme, been recognised as the UK’s joint 2nd best employers for Work-Life balance by Glassdoor, named as one of the 50 fastest growing companies across the North East and revealed a new partnership with East College Durham, a move which will see the creation of 100 new apprenticeships.
