Find the morning commute slightly stressful? You’re not alone. Two thirds of British office workers claim that parking is either insufficient or pushed to the limit at their workplace, according to a research study from car insurance provider, Chaucer Direct.
Meanwhile, 36% of workers claimed that parking at work was costly, either as a result of damage to vehicles (24%) or fines and charges (12%).
Census data shows that more than 60% of commuting journeys in the UK are made by car. By our calculations that’s a lot of parking spaces needed at the office.
There’s no need to fret at Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) as the forthcoming 80,000 square foot campus offers as much outside its doors as it does inside.
All colleagues will be guaranteed a parking space upon arrival at the office, thanks to an impressive 290 bay parking provision across its’ two sites at Spectrum 6 and 7.
“Free, onsite parking is no longer guaranteed by many employers – it is a commodity,” explains Victoria Walton, Head of Recruitment at GAS. “Many of our colleagues travel a considerable distance to our Seaham-based office, which is largely due to the fact it is so accessible from the North East and beyond.”
“We are very proud to be able to offer all of them free, secure, on-site parking at the new facility. It is a benefit which is simply unheard of in many parts of the country.”
Twelve introductory Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points will be available across the two-building campus, with plans to up-scale the offering as the EV demand grows. Commitment towards sustainability is a common thread at GAS, encouraging not only customers to make sustainable choices wherever possible, but colleagues too.
Craig Shields, Head of Quality and Risk at GAS explains what this means for the 104 GAS colleagues who are not based in the North East.
He said: “We have field-based colleagues, who travel to the Seaham office regularly and don’t necessarily arrive first thing in the morning. It was important for us, when reviewing locations for our new headquarters, to be able to offer ample parking for those colleagues joining us from further afield throughout the day.
“With 290 parking spaces, we can confidently guarantee all GAS colleagues a comfortable experience upon reaching the office. Our EV charging facilities will also provide peace of mind for those with a longer journey home. Hooking up and charging whilst in meetings represents real efficiency; another area we carry out a lot of work in for our customers. Plus, it can alleviate concerns around EV range limitations at the end of a busy day.”
Brad Groves, Chief Executive at GAS, is looking forward to providing enhanced wellbeing as a result of such convenient parking measures. “Without the worry of finding a parking space first thing in the morning, we’ll look forward to the smiling faces of our colleagues as they walk into the office, taking time to appreciate the wonderful coastal view from our clifftop location.”
With sea views proven to reduce stress by up to 10% according to the University of Exeter, it really does make great sense to live #theGASlife.
