Think of a creative space and an office environment may not be the first place to come to mind, but Great Annual Savings (GAS) is embracing creativity in its new state-of-the-art headquarters.
According to Big Think letting creativity reign in the workplace is key to establishing an engaged and innovative workforce. The introduction of new ideas and new ways of doing things maximises workers wellbeing and encourages them to do their best for their company.
Acknowledging the need for creativity and collaboration in the workplace, GAS plans include creative meeting spaces which will be available to all colleagues on the 80,000 square-foot campus. The coveted spaces will feature auditorium-style seating conducive to audience participation, relaxed seating areas, an interactive ideas board and inspiring surroundings.
Matthew Herrell, Group Finance Director at GAS said: “As we move into the next phase of the GAS expansion plan, we are committed to offering the best facilities for our colleagues. We have high expectations for the future growth and success of GAS and our colleagues are pivotal to that vision. We understand a creative approach is required to encourage continual transformation and innovation. We are market-leaders and disruptors, and it is essential our office environment reflects that.
Our culture is very much about challenging the way we do things, embracing change is in our DNA. By offering a variety of creative social spaces, available to all colleagues regardless of function or level, GAS aims to increase collaboration and creative decision-making by breaking down barriers and promoting cross-department innovation.”
The shift towards threading creativity throughout the workplace is becoming more prevalent according to KSR Architects: “In the past decade or so an attitude to the workplace has seen an almost paradigm shift. Driven by a new wave of millennials entering the workforce, innovative business owners are rethinking their office culture. The spaces in which you work now represent both employees values, and the business culture, with the boundaries between work, play and home becoming more intertwined.”
Phil Andrew, Associate Corporate Director at GAS believes this is great news as the company is ahead of the trend; “There are very few companies in the UK offering an office environment and culture like ours. We have invested a significant amount of time researching how we can leverage the talents and ambitions of the GAS team. Encouraging creativity in our new HQ is an exciting focus.”
